Project Description
The lack of marine infrastructure has effectively isolated Nunavut’s communities from the opportunities present in our surrounding waters. Improving the community-marine connection will support Inuit traditional livelihoods and foster new economic activity to promote healthy, self-reliant communities.
QBDC supported the Hamlet of Kinngait to secure funding and initiate a project to assess the needs and options for improving the community’s marine infrastructure.
QBDC helped the Hamlet to prepare funding applications, solicit a consultant through a public procurement process and prepare reporting for the funding programs. QBDC was successful in leveraging funding from CanNor and the Government of Nunavut to support this project.
