MAJOR PROJECTS

RESOLUTION ISLAND
QC has been carrying out a clean up of the Resolution Island Dew Line site since 1997. Since the beginning of the project QC crews have built access roads, demolished the old military facilities on the site, built land fills for mildly contaminated soils and removed more contaminated soils from the site to be treated at a facility in southern Canada.
The project has had Inuit employment levels of 90 -95% for the past four years, with staff averaging 75 people per year during that period. It has provided training for heavy equipment operation, vehicle maintenance, hazardous materials handling, road building, waste management, and site supervision.

MARINE DEVELOPMENT
QC has a number of fishing operations, including a Shrimp Licence with a core quota of 1,730 metric tones, and a Shrimp Fishing Area 5 special quota of 874 metric tones. In 2005 QC acquired a 51% Interest in a fishing vessel, the MV Saputi, as well as a 51% interest in a new fishing company, Qikiqtaaluk Fisheries Corporation.
In 1996, six northern shrimp licence holders formed the Northern Coalition. Member organizations includes Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, Makivik Corporation, Unaaq Fisheries, Labrador Inuit Development Corporation, Torngat Fish Producers Co-op, Labrador Fishermen’s Union Shrimp Company Limited, St. Anthony Basin Resources, and Fogo Island Co-operative Society.
The group secured a special quota of 6,120 metric tonnes in shrimp fishing area 5. Qikiqtaaluk Corporation’s share of the quota is 874 metric tonnes.
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation also has a turbot quota of 285 metric tonnes, that in recent years has been fished by Davis Strait Fisheries and the baffin Fisheries Coalition.

GN PROPERTY ASSESSMENT CONTRACT
In 1999 Qikiqtaaluk Corporation was awarded a contract with the Government of Nunavut (GN) to carry out property assessment and taxation services for the Government of Nunavut. The aim of the contract is to assess the value of lands and buildings, based on the Alberta model, to determine a property tax base, as well as all other aspects of administration of property taxes for Commissioner's Land on behalf of the GN. The contract runs to March 2006.
Over the course of the contract Qikiqtaaluk Corporation has contracted the service of GT Property Assessment & Tax. GT Property Assessment possesses a strong property assessment and taxation background with extensive knowledge and experience working throughout the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Alberta. They have helped QC put together a highly qualified and specialized project team, and have made a commitment to train Inuit in property assessment.

Qikiqtaaluk Properties Inc
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation is 100% owner of Qikiqtaaluk Properties Inc (QPI). The sole business of the Corporation is commercial leasing to tenants of the Igluvut Building, the Parnaivik Building, the QC warehouse and the Boreal Building. Most of the tenants are on long term leases.
Baffin Gas Limited
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation owns Baffin Gas Ltd. Baffin Gas provides retail sales of gasoline, diesel, naphtha kerosene and various automotive and small engine lubricants. The operation recently expanded to include convenience store and carving centre operations.
3379442 Canada Incorporated (QC/337)
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation established 3379442 Canada Incorporated to finance and manage the design and construction of the proposed Qikiqtani General Hospital. Work on the Qikiqtani General Hospital is expected to be completed by December 2006.
QC/337 has entered into a number of contracts with the Government of Nunavut for the development of the hospital project, including a Service Contract for the design of the hospital, an Extended Service Contract worth $11.5 Million for completion of preliminary work, and a Development Agreement with the GN for $46 Million for the main construction phase of the project.

Qikiqtaaluk Corporation owns Qikiqtaaluk Equipment Limited, and willoperate it starting in 2006 to run major environmental cleanup contracts.

Qikiqtaaluk Information Technology Corporation (QITC)
Qikiqtaaluk Information Technology Corporation (QITC) is a new
addition to the QC family of companies. Incorporated in 2007
with aquisitions from established
Information Technology (IT) corporations in Nunavut, QC brings a full range
of IT services, consulting, and sales experience to the market.

operates a 250+ node network from its Network Operations Centre
located in Iqaluit Nunavut
and Datacentres in Iqaluit Nunavut, Toronto Ontario, and Vancouver British
Columbia. QITC provides Hosted Application, Hosted Server,
and co-location services and
provides broadband networking service to Residential, Commercial and Government
agencies.
QITC is the QINIQ broadband (http://iqaluit.qiniq.com)
community service provider (CSP) to the Iqaluit Nunavut region.

ENVIRONMENTAL
Qikiqtaaluk Environmental (QE)
Qikiqtaaluk Environmental was established as a joint venture with Sinanni Inc., to take advantage of opportunities in environmental remediation of mines, DEW line sites, and other contaminated sites. QE started operations in 2004-05.
Pan Arctic Inuit Logistics Corporation (PAIL)
PAIL is a joint venture between Nunasi Corporation, Makivik Corporation, Inuvialuit Development Corporation, Labrador Inuit Development Corporation, Kitikmeot Corporation and Sakku Investment Corporation. The intent and purpose of PAIL is to seek contracts for the operation and maintenance of the North Warning System.

Nunavut Umiaq Corporation
Presently, the three shareholders of Nunavut Umiaq are Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, Sakku Investment Corporation and Makivik Corporation. These three Inuit companies are the majority partners in Nunavut Eastern Artic Shipping Inc. joint venture with Transport Nanuk Inc.
FISHERIES
Baffin Fisheries Coalition (BFC)
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation is a member organization of the Baffin Fisheries Coalition. The eleven founding members of the Baffin Fisheries Coalition include Hunters and Trappers Organizations of Pond Inlet, Clyde River Pangnirtung, Iqaluit and Kimmirut. The other non-HTO organizations are Cumberland Sound Fisheries, Pangnirtung Fisheries, Aqviq Marine, Kabva Marine, and Qikiqtaaluk Corporation.
The purpose of this organization is to develop the turbot fishery in Nunavut associated with exploratory fishing, development of inshore and offshore fisheries, recruitment and training, investment in fishing vessel, access for fishing quotas, and encouraging scientific research in the Nunavut fishery.
Unaaq Fisheries
Unaaq Fisheries Inc. is held equally between Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and Makivik Corporation and holds a license to fish for shrimp in the Northern Shrimp Fishery in the Canadian waters. Unaaq has entered into an Agreement with Clearwater Atlantic Seafood Inc., which terminates at the end of 2015 fishing year. Unaaq Fisheries also has a long-term fishing agreement with Clearwater Deep Sea Trawlers to the end of fishing year 2015.
CONSTRUCTION AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT
Nunavut Investment Group, Inc. (NIG)
Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, Sakku Investments Corporation, Kitikmeot Corporation and Nunasi Corporation are the owners of NIG. The Nunavut Construction Corporation (NCC) is a subsidiary of NIG.
The main project now underway with NIG/NCC is the construction of the second phase of the Inuksugait Plaza in Iqaluit.
Toromont Arctic Ltd.
Toromont is a joint venture between Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, Sakku Investment Corporation, Kitikmeot Corporation and Toromont Cat, the Caterpillar Dealer for Nunavut, Manitoba, Ontario, Newfoundland and Eastern Labrador., Toromont Cat. Toromont Arctic Ltd (originally Powell Arctic Ltd.) was set up to sell, rent, and provide customer support services for new and used equipment.

PATIENT CARE
Larga Baffin
Larga Baffin is a joint venture between Larga Services Corporation and Qikiqtaaluk Corporation. The purpose of Larga Baffin is to provide for the accommodation and transportation of Nunavut patients in Ontario.
Larga Baffin has been very successful over the past year, but has been experiencing some problems as a result of the increased occupancy by patients, escorts, and families. Larga and QC staff members have been working with the Government of Nunavut to explore the possibility of developing a new facility in south Ottawa. Although use is expected to drop off somewhat with the completion of the Qikiqtani General Hospital, the Board of Larga Baffin anticipates continuing profitability.
