Qikiqtaaluk Corporation is now accepting applications from Nunavummiut who wish to make offshore fishing their career choice. Starting has a factory worker, structured progressive training opportunities are available on the deck, engine room, factory supervisor, galley or the wheelhouse complemented by shore-based training initiatives such as those offered by the Nunavut Fisheries Training Consortium.
Interested applicants must have valid Certification in Marine Emergency Duties, Marine First Aid, Seafarers Books, and Marine Medical. Applicants must have valid passport as there are overseas travel opportunities.
Fishing for turbot and or shrimps, working in close quarters with other fishermen, team work is critical.
Applicants must be willing to be at sea and away from home for extended periods. Pay is based on crew share of the catch.
